We are pleased to announce that Rospatent has published its Annual Report for 2021 and its short version entitled Rospatent: Facts & Figures.
2021 was officially declared a Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation. This emphasizes the role of IP as a tool for fostering scientific and technical progress. Rospatent focuses on building up a stable and efficient IP ecosystem through the digital transformation of the Office.
The last 5 years showed a stable growth in filings complemented by the rapidly ongoing digitalization process that significantly contributed to the development of the IP ecosystem in particular and the national economy as a whole.
One of the key indicators showing the development of the Russian economy is an increase in trademark filings. In 2021, 100’000 trademark filings per year was reached for the 1st time. This demonstrates not only the maturity and efficiency of the Russian IP protection system but also the growth of business activity.
